The highest continuous paved road in the US climbs to 12,183 feet at the summit and connects Estes Park with Grand Lake. At 11,796 feet above sea level, the Alpine Visitor Center is the highest in the National Park Service. Average snow drifts from 18-22 feet have been cleared and motorists are advised to be prepared for 8pm night closures due to melting and re-freezing.
