Ride a Bike!

If you love to bike, you can get a great workout or take a leisurely tour to enjoy the scenery in Rocky Mountain National Park, Roosevelt National Forest, or the lovely town of Estes Park.  With something for everyone, here is a great resource for planning your bicycle adventure:

Mountain biking on paved or unpaved roads in Rocky Mountain National Park offers dramatic scenery. Trail Ridge Road, Bear Lake Road and Old Fall River Road are frequented by bikers looking for a challenge. If you choose to skip the uphill part, local companies will drive you to the top and you can ride downhill into town.
Mountain bikers in the National Forests can choose from a wide variety of four-wheel roads and trails. They range from short to long, flat to steep and easy to difficult. Click on this link to get detailed information about each of the trails and your biking options.

Though Rocky Mountain National Park trails are closed to mountain bikers, there are many good biking trails and roads available in nearby Roosevelt National Forest. Here is a list of Mountain Bike Trails in the Boulder District of Roosevelt National Forest

For a lovely tour of local scenery, Lake Estes in the town of Estes Park is ringed by a two-lane paved path that meanders along the golf course, through a bird sanctuary, around the lake, all along Fish Creek Road. With mostly rolling hills and only a few steep climbs, the paths are suitable for almost everyone. Wonderful for strolling, biking, dog walking, birding, and watching the elk that like the golf course grass, it’s a town treasure!

If you’d like to rent a ride, you can plan your own outing or tour with a guide at Estes Park Mountain Shop   (970) 586 – 6548 | (866) 303 – 6548  or at New Venture Cycling  (970) 231-2736  Both offer guided tours, expert advice, and top-notch equipment.
