Plein Air Rockies is an annual arts festival of outdoor painting presented by the Cultural Arts Council (CAC) of Estes Park. The event begins on August 3rd and runs through October 27, 2013 which marks its 13th year in operation. The full spectrum arts festival with events geared for audiences of all ages is staged in four parts: The “Prelude Art Exhibition” from August 4-22; the “National Paint Out” from August 10-22; “Art Exhibition and Sale” from August 25 to October 27 ; and “Fall Paint Outs” in September.
Events will take place throughout Estes Park and within a 50 mile radius including but not limited to the CAC Fine Art Gallery located at 423 W Eklhorn Ave., and at Performance Park and Riverside Plaza in town.
The juried “Prelude” spotlights the work of the 36 Plein Air artists and features a variety of subjects including landscape, architecture, portraiture, and still life on location and in the studio. Beginning on August 4th, the 2013 Poster competition winner “Loch Shadows” will be available for viewing and purchase.
August 15 features the Kid’s paint out, which enables children age 6 and up to work with PAR artists and CAC staff to experience Plein Air Painting first hand.
