Registration is via website or on June 15 at the Estes Park High School Student Center. Registration for the 5K and 10K is also available on June 16 at the Estes Park High School.

This high-adventure course offers the thrill of white-water rafting with Mountain Whitewater Descents, a professional guiding service, along with the educational benefit of an experienced guide who will provide details of the cultural and natural history along the Cache la Poudre and Big Thompson Canyons. This fee includes transportation to and from the rafting company along with a light snack and water.

Participants will receive a unique overview of the Park’s history, flora, fauna, and geology while viewing passed landscapes from the comfort of a 14-passenger van. Opportunity for taking pictures will be provided at the many pull-off stops along the way such as the Alluvial Fan, Rainbow Curve, Alpine Visitor Center, Milner Pass (Continental Divide), Holzwarth Historic Site, and the historic town of Grand Lake. Both lunch and admission into Rocky Mountain National Park are included in the registration fee.

Using a GPS unit, participants will discover the natural treasures found around a historically and ecologically significant area in Rocky Mountain National Park called the Alluvial Fan. Kids will learn how this landscape is recovering from the Lawn Lake Flood of 1982, experience the adventure and fun of using a GPS unit to find hidden clues along the trail, and gain knowledge about the plants and animals that call RMNP home. (This class is recommended for first-time geocachers).

As the nation’s highest continuous paved highway, this road meanders through various life zones on its way through the Park and over one of the largest, most pristine stretches of alpine tundra in the lower 48 states. Participants will receive a unique overview of the Park’s history, flora, fauna, and geology while viewing passed landscapes from the comfort of a 14-passenger van, with opportunity for taking pictures at the many pull-off stops along the way. Some of the more notable features guests will visit are the Alluvial Fan, Rainbow Curve, Milner Pass (Continental Divide), and the Alpine Visitor Center. Both lunch and admission into Rocky Mountain National Park are included in the registration fee.

Spend the morning discussing the migration, nesting, habitat, conservation, natural history and ecology of mountain birds. Have fun in the field while learning to identify, enjoy and appreciate birds. Participants will learn to identify as many species as possible both by sight and by songs/calls. By learning to identify birds by sound, you can develop a good sense of what birds are nearby.
