If you are going to be in the neighborhood and you are looking for something fun and free to do with the family, plan to visit the Fairgrounds at Stanley Park for the Historical Preservation Foundation’s 8th annual Estes Park Heritage Festival.
Events include “Trash and Treasures” (Who knows what you might find?); the first annual Rocky Mountain Chuck Wagon Tasting and Cook Off; lively stage entertainment, a petting zoo, the Mountain Man encampment, the Lewis and Clark exhibit and the best home-made pies in the Rockies whole or by the slice.
On Sunday, gather round to enjoy the amazing beauty, grace and dexterity of the largest equines – Draft Horses. These gentle giants once carried knights into battle and helped build and feed nations. The show features Belgian, Clydesdale, Percheron and Shire breeds, and the August 11 exhibition runs from 9:30am to 5:30pm.
